A bar signet: a long, narrow rectangular face rather than the usual blocky rectangle.
The proportion does most of the work. Stretching the plate and trimming its width makes the ring sit along the finger instead of across it, so it reads slimmer and more modern than a square-ish signet. It also gives engraving somewhere to go — a row of initials or a short name follows the shape naturally, where a square plate would crowd them.
There are three widths, all in the same weight class of roughly 3.2 to 3.9 g: 11.5 x 6.5 mm, 12.0 x 6.5 mm, and 13.5 x 5.5 mm, which is the slimmest of the three. The faces are close in overall area, so the choice is about proportion rather than size.
All three widths are made in 14K yellow gold. The 11.5 x 6.5 mm is also offered in 10K.
Closed back, cast solid, hand-polished and sizeable by a jeweler, in ring sizes 5 through 15 including every half size.
