A square signet ring with an antiqued finish — that is the whole point of this one. Set beside a plain polished square, it reads older, heavier and more worked.
Antiquing means the recessed areas of the ring are darkened and the raised surfaces are left bright and polished. The contrast is what does the work: the edge of the plate, the shoulders and the step down into the shank each read separately, instead of blurring together into one flat block of gold. A plain polished signet reflects as a single sheet of metal; this one shows its shape.
The face measures 11 x 11.5 mm — about 5.8 g in yellow gold, about 6 g in white. It is still a flat, workable signet face, so it can be engraved with a monogram, an initial or a crest exactly like a polished ring.
Made in 14K yellow gold or 14K white gold; the white gold is rhodium plated for a bright, even white. Cast solid and fully sizeable, in sizes 5 through 15 including every half size.
