The Franco is the strongest chain shape in gold. Its V-shaped links interlock into a square, almost box-like rope with no gaps — which is why it holds a pendant dead centre instead of letting it slide and twist, and why it is the chain jewellers recommend when someone has broken a rope or a Cuban. There is almost nowhere for a Franco to fail.
This one is solid 18K — 75% pure gold, the deepest yellow tone available.

Every width and length combination has its own gram weight. Select both above and the page shows you the exact weight and the price for that piece — price follows weight, nothing else.
- Widths: 1.25, 1.5, 2, 2.5, 3, 3.5 and 4 MM. Franco reads narrower than it measures because the links are packed so tight — a 3 MM Franco has more visual weight than a 3 MM rope.
- Lengths: 16 to 30 inches. For a pendant chain, 22″–24″ is the usual choice so the piece sits at mid-chest.
- Metal: solid 18K gold, stamped
Why men buy Franco for pendants
A round rope chain rolls, so a heavy pendant will spin the chain until the clasp ends up at the front. The Franco's square section resists that. If you are buying a chain to hang something valuable on, this is the shape to buy.
Care
The tight weave holds soap and skin oil, so give it a proper clean every few months — warm soapy water, soft brush, rinse, dry thoroughly. No chlorine. Store it hanging or laid flat; a Franco is stiff enough that it resists tangling on its own.
