A rope chain is built from small links twisted into a continuous spiral, which is why it flashes from every angle instead of only the front — turn your head and the whole chain lights up. Solid 18K rose gold makes it the richest version of that effect we sell: 75% pure gold with a warm rose tone, and every link a full piece of metal rather than a hollow tube.
Choosing your chain
Each width and length is a distinct piece with its own gram weight. Pick both above and the page will show you the exact weight and the price for that combination — price is derived from weight alone.
- Widths: 1, 2, 2.5, 3, 4, 5 and 6 MM. 1–2 MM is a fine chain for a pendant or for layering. 2.5–3 MM is the classic everyday rope. 4 MM and up wears as the whole piece.
- Lengths: 16 to 30 inches. 16″–18″ sits high at the neck, 20″–22″ is standard for men, 24″+ drops to the chest.
- Metal: solid 18K rose gold, stamped
Solid rope vs hollow rope
Hollow rope is lighter and cheaper for the same visible width, but a hard knock can flatten a hollow link and it can't be repaired invisibly. Solid rope costs more because there is more gold in it, and it will outlive you. If you are buying a chain to keep, buy solid.
Care
Rope chains trap more soap and skin oil than flat links do, so they benefit from a proper clean every few months: warm water, mild soap, a soft brush worked along the spiral, rinse and dry. No chlorine. Lay it flat to store — a rope chain left in a knot can kink.
