This is the heavy one. A 12.0 x 12.5 mm face and 6.16 grams of solid 14K yellow gold (58.5% pure gold) put it in a different class from our everyday signets, and it wears like it: broad across the finger, substantial in the hand, impossible to mistake for a starter piece.
What sets it apart beyond the size is the shoulders. Pierced cut-out squares run down either side of the plate, a detail borrowed from mid-century men's rings. They break up what would otherwise be a heavy slab of gold, throw light through the sides of the ring, and give the profile a graphic, architectural line when seen from the side.
The back is open, which keeps a ring this large from becoming unwearable in weight and lets it sit comfortably through a long day.
The face is flat and blank across its full 12 x 12.5 mm, which is generous room for a three-letter monogram, a full crest, or a deep-cut initial. Engraving is not included in the price.
