The Franco's V-shaped links lock together into a tight square section with no gaps, which makes it the most durable chain shape in gold and the best one to hang a pendant from — it doesn't roll, so a heavy piece stays centred instead of spinning the clasp round to the front. Hollow construction keeps the weight and the price down, so you can wear a real 14K white gold Franco for a fraction of what the solid version costs.
14K white gold is 58.5% pure, alloyed with white metals and rhodium-plated for the bright silver finish.

- Widths: 1.5, 1.9, 2.2, 3.2, 4.4, 5.3 and 6.4 MM. Franco reads heavier than it measures because of how tightly the links pack — 2.2 MM is already a proper men's chain.
- Lengths: 16 to 30 inches. 22″–24″ is the usual choice for a pendant chain.

Care
White gold is rhodium-plated over a yellowish alloy, and that plating slowly wears — every few years a jeweller can re-plate it and the chain looks new again. Clean with warm soapy water and a soft brush; the tight Franco weave holds oil, so do it properly rather than often. No chlorine. Hollow links don't tolerate crushing, so don't sleep in it or wear it under weights.
